Over 500 American and Mexican representatives from various companies were recently in Guadalajara for a “Doing Business with the United States” conference sponsored by the Office of the U.S. Commercial Service in Guadalajara.
The U.S. Consul General Edward Ramotowski and Jalisco State Secretary of Economic Promotion Guillermo Martínez Mora spoke to the large group about the mutual benefits of bilateral trade and the advantages for U.S. businesses operating in Jalisco.
The event consisted of panel discussions and workshops ranging from the legal aspects of trade to export logistics and financing available to Mexican importers of U.S. goods. UPS Capital gave a briefing on their export/import programs and the U.S. Government Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) spoke about financing options. Cooking oil manufacturer AGYDSA was honored with the Achievement in Trade award by the U.S. Commercial Service in Guadalajara. AGYDSA, a Mexican company, imports most of its grain and equipment from the U.S. and has cultivated a strong relationship with the U.S. Commercial Service over the years.
The event offered an unparalleled opportunity for business people, logisticians, financiers and government officials to network, learn from the experts and take a comprehensive view of doing business with the United States. The mission of the U.S. Commercial Service office is to establish links for U.S. companies in Mexico and bring together exporters, importers, business people and investors to benefit both Mexico and the U.S. through bilateral trade.
