Passport Service

General Information

The American Citizens Services section of the U.S. Consulate General Guadalajara accepts passport applications and provides additional passport pages. All passport applicants must apply in person during working hours: Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., except on U.S. and Mexican holidays.

Effective Monday, April 7, 2008, the American Citizen Services section of the U.S. Consulate in Guadalajara will require all passport applications to be filled out electronically prior to arrival.  We will no longer accept hand-written passport applications.  All passport applications can be filled out here.  Note: This policy does not apply to emergency passport applications involving a lost or stolen passport.

Effective Monday, April 7, 2008, the American Citizen Services section of the U.S. Consulate in Guadalajara will offer appointments for all passport applications and Consular Reports of Birth Abroad (CRBA).  Appointments will be required effective May 2, 2008.  Applicants with appointment confirmations may proceed directly to the Consulate’s public entrance for security screening.  They will not be required to wait in line.  Appointments may be scheduled online here.  Note: This policy does not apply to emergency passport applications involving a lost or stolen passport.

In most cases, all original documents submitted by the applicant in support of the application will be returned to the applicant on the same day. We do, however, reserve the right to maintain citizenship documents throughout the adjudication of the passport.  Previous passports will generally be cancelled and returned to the applicant. The new passports will be available in approximately four weeks.

A messenger service will deliver the new passport to an address within Mexico as indicated on the application for a nominal charge payable upon delivery.  Please note that we cannot deliver passports to an address in the United States.
