Passport Service
General Information:
The American Citizens Services Section of the U.S. Consulate General Guadalajara accepts passport applications and provides additional passport pages. All passport applicants must make an appointment and apply in person. Appointments are available Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., except on U.S. and Mexican holidays. Appointments may be scheduled online here.
From 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. a limited number of appointments will be available by calling [52] (33) 3268-2100, extension 2174, 2271, or 2258.
The American Citizen Services Section requires that all passport applications be filled out electronically prior to arrival. We no longer accept hand-written passport applications. All passport applications can be filled out here.
Note: This policy does not apply to emergency passport applications involving a lost or stolen passport.
The American Citizen Services Section offers appointments for all passport applications and Consular Reports of Birth Abroad (CRBA). Applicants with appointment confirmations may proceed directly to the Consulate’s public entrance on Lopez Cotilla for security screening. Appointments may be scheduled online here.
In most cases, all original documents submitted by the applicant in support of the application will be returned to the applicant on the same day. We do, however, reserve the right to retain citizenship documents throughout the entire adjudication of the passport. Previous passports will generally be cancelled and returned to the applicant.
A messenger service will deliver the new passport to an address within Mexico as indicated on the application for a nominal charge.
Note: We cannot deliver passports to an address in the United States.
There is no expedited passport service in Mexico.
