
Social Security and Other Federal Benefits
Answers to questions about Social Security, Civil Service, Veterans, Railroad Retiree and Office of Personnel Management (OPM) civil service pensions and benefits can be obtained by calling the U.S. Consulate Guadalajara at (01-33) 3268−2139, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (except U.S. and Mexican holidays).
The Federal Benefits Unit (FBU) works alongside the American Citizens Services Unit and can process claims, accept applications for Social Security cards for U.S. citizens and Mexican nationals who are entitled to work in the United States, and provide assistance in resolving any problems about entitlements.
They can also process changes of address and assist when checks are lost or stolen. Any U.S. or Mexican Citizens who are entitled to Social Security benefits may use the services of FBU.
