Thousands of New Visa Appointments to Reduce Wait Times

U.S. Consulate Opens Thousands of New Visa Appointments to Reduce Wait Times

Guadalajara, July 19 – The U.S. Consulate General is immediately reducing wait times for non-immigrant visa applicants by opening tens of thousands of new appointments over the next two months. Applicants who have previously scheduled appointments may reschedule to an earlier date online at http://usvisa-info.com/es-MX/selfservice/ss_country_welcome or by calling 01-33-4624-0367, or 01-33-4624-1978, or 01-44-9462-8591.

“We are sensitive to the backlog that has developed over recent months due to the large visa demand in Guadalajara,” says Consular Chief Kerry Brougham. “We are bringing in extra staffing and increasing the daily workload for vice consuls with the goal of completely eliminating our application backlog within three months.”

With hundreds of new appointments daily, new applicants should experience extremely short wait times and emergency travelers may schedule appointments through the normal process.

This increase in appointments follows another major announcement at U.S. consulates in Mexico made earlier this month:  starting July 1st, applicants with tourist, student, or certain work visas expired within the last 4 years became eligible to renew their visas without consulate interviews.

“Guadalajara will always be an attractive destination for visa applicants throughout Mexico,” notes Consul General Daniel Keller. “This push represents a renewed commitment to providing excellent customer service in one of Mexico’s most important cultural and business hubs.”
