Green Race Celebrates Earth Day, Draws Donations for Environmental Education
Attracting over 400 walkers, runners, infants, and dogs, the first Green Race of Guadalajara took place on Saturday, April 20, at Metropolitan Park in celebration of Earth Day. Events included a five kilometer run and a one kilometer run/walk. All participants received a potted plant courtesy of Viveros Rancho Calderon nursery.

The U.S. Mission in Mexico Increases Corporate Eligibility to Participate in its Business Facilitation Program

U.S. Consulate Offers Appointments on Saturday for Applicants Seeking to Renew Visas

US Consulate participes in Fire Engine donation from the City of South San Francisco to the City of Atotonilco

U.S. Ambassador Wayne Celebrates 70th Anniversary of the Benjamin Franklin Library
Mexico City, April 27, 2012 – U.S. Ambassador Anthony Wayne celebrated the 70th Anniversary of the first American overseas library, the Benjamin Franklin Library in Mexico City on the evening of April 26. Ambassador Wayne noted that this library, opened April 13, 1942, is a timeless symbol of strong ties between the United States and Mexico. The BFL engages with the community and civil society in hundreds of cultural and educational programs annually. The reference desk answers nearly 21,000 queries every year utilizing a specialized collection of materials on bilateral relations, English teaching, librarianship, and American culture.

Visa Processing Fees to Change on April 13, 2012
Effective April 13, 2012, the Department of State will adjust visa processing fees. The fees for most nonimmigrant visa applications and Border Crossing Cards will increase, while all immigrant visa processing fees will decrease.

U.S. Companies Seek Measures to Safeguard Against Cargo Theft
Last Friday, a dozen executives of U.S. companies with operations in central western Mexico met with representatives of the Procuraduria General de Justicia de Jalisco, Philip Morris, and the Asociacion Nacional del Transporte Privado to discuss the threat of cargo theft. The meeting was organized by the Overseas Security Advisory Council in cooperation with the U.S. Consulate General in Guadalajara.

Women: Motors of Competition
In celebration of International Women´s Day as well as to demonstrate the U.S. Government’s commitment to recognizing and supporting women as part of its foreign policy, the U.S. Consulate General in Guadalajara, in coordination with the American Chamber of Commerce, the Jalisco State Congress, and the Council of Industrial Chambers of Jalisco organized a discussion panel under the title “Women: Motors of Competition” today at the Club de Industriales.
