Consular officers are prohibited from offering legal advice or interfering in the legal process of a foreign country. Individuals with complex legal problems in Mexico should consult a competent attorney who has expertise in the relevant area.
The U.S. Consulate General Guadalajara maintains a list of attorneys (PDF 409 KB) who speak English and have indicated an interest in defending American clients.
