In recent months, USCG Guadalajara has received reports from victims of “Grandparent Scams,” where elderly family members residing in the U.S. are phoned and informed that their relative, usually an adult grandchild, niece, or nephew has been arrested overseas and needs financial assistance to be wired as soon as possible. USCG Guadalajara encourages American citizens to pass information regarding this scam to family members in the U.S. who may be targeted.
